Recently, I was checking out options for cattle fencing online and came across the idea that many farmers are using used highway guardrail for cattle fencing. One site said that guardrail offers the strongest, most durable, most cost-effective fencing solution for livestock. They say its a life time fencing instead of something you have to replace every couple of years. I wanna know if anybody has used it before and what they think of it. It really seems that in the long run it should save money, & I'm always interested in anything that will save me money.
I found a slideshow which show’s how they use it:
I used somthing similar to guard rail called C- channel from the building industry. I used it on my crowding pen but not on pasture fencing, that would be real expensive and slow to construct. There are a lot better options for pasture fencing.
gaurd rail is pretty common fencing here for feedlots and working areas. Can get pretty spendy esp if going 3 high.I think it is running around 2.25 a foot. But do it once and you are done.
